Transient space explores space between the physical and digital worlds. His work aims to mould the digital and print worlds together. Transient Space is a digital gallery exploring concepts of time, space and culture of transient screen.
- Digital systems can glitch structural systems like grids.
- Algorithms can be used to create odd compositions digitally
- An algorithm worked to create a process for a magazine, creating new imagery or changed the way imagery could be seen.
- Curio Curia Exhibition was curated using Google Vision API, which picks up emotions, themes, location etc. Considering an image with both the original and a Google representation.
- This was then curated into a projection of timelapse images
- The catalogue alongside the exhibition referenced the Google Image layout.
- His Instagram loading imagery publication was interesting as the imagery was heavily abstracted it becomes its own visual language.
- Varying the scale such as by enlarging prints places the digital element in a physical environment.
Consider the following:
- Adopting screens
- Disrupting non-spaces
- Not a traditional concept
- Adam was influenced by Jenny Holsow inspiring the theme of disrupting spaces.
- An interesting example includes China televising sunlight through screen.
- Can a space be disrupted by a screen?
- Does a screen have a message or purpose?
- Peripheres of a screen - how does the location change how a screen is viewed e.g. a screen in a forest.
- Patrick Thomas’ work aims to blend two worlds together, screen and print similar to Adam.
- How could a screen be exposed in a different way - curation
- A study or statistic could be used to inspire the concept.
- Can reality be fabricated through screen - challenge reality.
- Responses are resourceful - through simple methods
- Black once projected visualises negative space
- Think about pace - something can be communicated in short seconds or a more lengthly period.
- Screen can be mobile.
Does a screen lose a sense of interaction?
Not necessarily a screen is redundant or engaging.
