Steve Hockett Workshop : Fanzines

About Steve Hockett

Wonder Room Studio

- Runs small multi disciplinary design studio
- Methods of production to produce error
- Making designs more human with more feeling
- Traditional design such as branding, posters, illustrations and art prints
- Taking Graphic Design work out of context to display in an Art Show
- Rizzograph changed his practice and the way he works and looks at his work.
- Some of his first used a limited colour palette with black type and one other overlaid colour originally due to a limited budget.
- The limited colour palette also continued to inspire his working practice
- He also uses a more practical approach containing small sketches.
- Influenced error by introducing mediums you can't necessarily control. e.g. Pen attached to a stick, creates a sophisticated line
- How work is made could perhaps inspire design work e.g. limited colour palette - to visualise limited material used to make something.

Examples of Steve Hockett's work:

Steves working practice and one of his methods for idea generation helped us to create the first publication by working in a group. Our group decided to make two one named "what the fuck is that" the other using pens and doodles to create another interesting concept.

This workshop inspired group work to create fanzines with work we generated during the workshop. As a group we designed two fanzines one called "What the FUCK is that?!" and the other called "From Pen To Planet."
